Firm Profile

Thomas A. Bauer & Associates P.C. CPAs was formed on November 23, 1987 as a professional corporation (P.C.).   Originally established in Schaumburg, we have now been in Bloomingdale for over 20 years.  The firm prepares monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements for small businesses, as well as performing requested consulting engagements and their required business tax returns.  In addition, we provide income tax preparation services for individuals and their families.

Federal and state licensing requirements mandate that we obtain continuing professional education through coursework and seminars, to ensure that we are up to date on the most recent tax law changes.  We must obtain 120 continuing professional education hours over three years, with a minimum of 20 hours each year.    Our continual investment of time and resources in continuing education, as well as in state-of-the art technology and extensive business relationships is indicative of our commitment to excellence.

Thomas A. Bauer, CPA, has been in public accounting for over 35 years.  He was born in Chicago, moved to Bensenville, a suburb of the city, and graduated from Fenton High School and Northern Illinois University. Tom began his professional career working for a small CPA firm in 1977, and has enjoyed working with small businesses and individuals over the years.  He established this practice on November 23, 1987. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, as well as a member in the Illinois CPA Society.   Through his association with the Intuit brand of products, he has also attained the designation as a QuickBooks ProAdvisor.    He and his wife Lauri reside in West Chicago.  They have a daughter, Traci, who is a graduate of the University of Iowa and is now working for a large CPA firm in Schaumburg.

Denise A. Waldron, CPA, has worked in public accounting for over 30 years, and has been with the firm for over 25 years.  She earned her accounting degree at Illinois Benedictine College in Lisle.  She and her husband reside in the southern suburbs.  She specializes in small business accounting and corporate taxes, while also preparing  individual income tax returns.

Pat Gielarowski, part of our small business accounting staff, has been with the firm since 2004.  She also received her accounting degree from Northern Illinois University.  She specializes in working closely with our business clientele, but helps out in the tax preparation area during the busy season.

We welcome back Joan Ranz, who was with us from 1998-2001.  Joan is the friendly voice you hear when you call our office.  She will be responsible for tracking each return through the entire tax preparation process, while taking appointments and handling the office administration.  Joan resides in Bartlett and looks forward to meeting and working with our clients once again.  We look forward to utilizing her prior experience in helping the office run more smoothly.

Our income tax season requires that we hire seasonal help.   Tammy Thomas provides the vital role of tax return administration, which encompasses the verifying of data and copying and collating of the returns and client documents.

Lauri Bauer has been working for the firm since February of 2000.  She mainly handles the work for one large client, as well as handling the firm’s administration.  She also keeps her husband focused during the hectic months of tax season.
